Permit are essentially here, on the flats of Key West every single month of the year. The slowest month would be the full moon of April to the Full moon of May. The larger fish are on the flats in March and the months with the most numerous fish would be July - November. Key West is without argument the best place on the planet to hunt and go sight fishing the flats of Key West for permit.
 The larger permit we catch range in size of 30 - 50 pounds. Keep in mind the larger the smarter. There is nothing like the thrill of seeing a 25lb plus size fish with his back out of the water foraging for crabs on a crystal clear flat.
The best way to hunt for permit is with one or two anglers on board a stealthy flats boat or bay boat. You can have a guide pole you along in search of these fish or use a bay boat for the added propulsion of a trolling motor. Either way you will have plenty of shots at catching one of these magnificent sport fish.
To better serve our growing population of anglers and to meet the economy challenges  that are affecting all of us we offer trips up to 4 persons on one of our bay boats in search of these highly sought after game fish.
We supply all the gear you will need or you can bring your own. Please call us to ask about the type of line you will need to best have a shot at landing one of these fish. Trips are 4, 6, and 8 hours in Length.  Many say that catching a permit on a fly rod is the holy grail of fly fishing. I would have to agree with them. A deadly accurate cast of at least 60 ft is needed to achieve this trophy. A strong understanding and function of double hauling mechanics in fly fishing are required to keep and maintain line speed and accuracy especially in high winds. Needless to say fly fishing for permit is not for the inexperienced.
